“I absolutely love my workout sessions with Shamus. I used to do crossfit and loved that too but it was too hard on my body —- as a woman of a certain age, I found that my knees just weren’t up to the stress of box jumps, jump rope, running, and all of the other really high impact things that crossfit is known for. With Shamus I still do many of those activities but in a much more varied way and Shamus tailors the workout to my specific needs so that I’ve become stronger and more agile without further damaging my joints. I love one on one sessions just as much as the small group sessions. We have fun and laugh a lot but get a really good workout at the same time. Shamus also organizes lots of extra curricular activities and it’s fun to see how everyone is prepping for them and striving to reach their personal goals. Having Shamus to talk to about diet and food choices also helps me to keep on track with my weight goals so that I not only feel strong and healthy but look good too. Since working with Shamus, I’ve improved my balance and strength and endurance all while keeping my joints healthy and flexible. I’m very grateful to have the opportunity to continue working with him”
“My journey with Shamus started back when he was a trainer at Bally’s Total Fitness. I signed up for a 60 minute session, and needless to say about 40 minutes in, my butt was already kicked and I ended up in the bathroom saying, “What the heck was I thinking?” Ten years later, I still find myself thinking the same thing as I’m driving to the studio for a workout, followed by the same thought the day after a workout with Shamus. Because of Shamus, I’ve completed two half marathons, numerous 5ks, 8ks and 10ks, and I’ve lifted weights that I never thought were possible. For someone who absolutely hates running and can easily talk herself out of a workout, this is a HUGE accomplishment. I would never push myself to this extent without the encouragement, training, and support I receive from Shamus. Compared to most personal trainers, his work doesn’t end after your training session; he follows up throughout the week to make sure your goals are being met and to keep encouraging you to stay on track. This is true dedication from someone who truly cares about watching you succeed. It’s always a good time when I work out with Shamus, even on the off days when my body decides not to work with me. He’s constantly joking around and encouraging you but making sure that you are still pushing your hardest, he will notice if you aren’t giving it 100% (trust me, I get caught). I’ve also participated in the group workouts/bootcamp. You would think since there are more people that maybe you aren’t getting the same amount of attention as a one-on-one session, nope. He literally has eyes on the back of his head. I don’t know how he does it, but he’s able to make sure everyone is giving 100% and doing each exercise correctly and safely. He has not only impacted my physical health, but he’s made me a stronger individual mentally. He’s constantly educating me throughout the training sessions and if I throw him a curve ball and he doesn’t have an answer (which is rare) he researches and then gets back to me. The results that Shamus has accomplished both personally and with his clients speak for itself. I’ve tried other trainers, simply because my gym offered them and I end up always going back to Shamus. He really knows what he’s talking about and he’ll tell you exactly what you need to do to get to your desired goals. I would recommend him as a personal trainer to anyone who is looking for fitness inspiration, as small or large of a goal it might be.”
“I joined Brady fitness in May 2013 and its safe to say was one of my best decisions!! When I started working with Shamus not only was I a whopping 20 lbs heavier-I had an aching back and complete confusion on nutrition. I have been active most of my life but realized what right training and nutrition meant only after Shamus! Years of Hot Yoga,Crossfit, and multiple other gizmo’s and gimmicks from diets like vegan, vegetarian, grain free, gluten free-yup, tried all that and it only left me confused and frustrated. Being in my forties,(yes,I admit it) and hypothyroid it seemed like a miracle to lose any weight much less keep it off.The yo-yo dieters of the world-I hear ya! I can’t imagine doing 22 mile walks, hiking half dome or the other Relay events I have done in the last couple years without his training, motivation and support. He has even helped and motivated some of my life goals and don’t think most trainers even care about that!! Shamus is friendly, personable and seems to have a good rapport with all his clients and personalizes the training according to each person’s limitations and goals.Do give him a try, you will be sore and not sorry!”
“As the mom of a special needs adult son, I was feeling more drained caring for him than in my younger years. Connecting with Shamus 9 years ago was a godsend. Through his boot camp and individual training sessions, I am stronger, have better endurance and lost a few annoying pounds I had gathered over the years. He has helped me train and complete many half marathons, a full marathon, a Tough Mudder and other goals in the gym I never imagined possible (even participating side by side with me and other clients in some of the events). I feel great and know I am in the best shape of my life mainly due to the support and dedication of this awesome trainer. He not only pushes me to be my best, but has taken on the rest of my family as clients too. I am truly grateful for him and look forward to the challenges that lie ahead.”
“Even though I’ve always been an active person, I’ve struggled with my weight for the majority of my life. In October, 2011, I was introduced to Shamus by a former co-worker and thus, began my Brady Fitness journey. And you know what? I haven’t looked back since! Shamus not only helped me to lose my unwanted weight, but he helped me go from 0 to 15 pull-ups (something I could NEVER do in the past) in less than 6 months!!! In my opinion, you’d be a fool not to want to work with Shamus to reach your fitness goals because you not only get a trainer and a coach, but you also gain a life-long friend.”
“I love my bootcamp classes! I joined morning bootcamp a year and a half ago. At the time, I was looking for a simple weight training class that would complement my running. Turns out, working out with Shamus means much more than that. Classes are extremely varied. It seems that Shamus finds a lot of satisfaction in thinking about all the ways to make you sweat. I’ve never seen this variety in equipment in any other training studio and Shamus really uses it all.Working out in a small group was very eye opening for me, Before bootcamp, I only tried big group gym classes and never seemed to get any results. I thought I was working as hard as I could and never really had the chance to discover my upper limits. At bootcamp, I had the professional support to really challenge myself safely. I am now much more confident and always looking to try out new sports and activities because I know much better what my body is capable of.I am stronger than I have ever been. An example? When I started, I could not do a plank. Not even for 5 seconds. I can now hold a plank for more than 5 minutes and I have kick-butt abs to show for it!But, really, the best thing about bootcamp is the friendly atmosphere and the people. Everybody is incredibly supportive. It really doesn’t matter what fitness level you are, your bootcamp mates will be your best cheerleaders.”
